Domain News Wire posted today of online payment processor Paypal’s apparent termination of its’ relationship with domain registrar Epik – based on some recent posts to their blog comprising of open letters it had sent to Paypal executives.
Robert Davis, Epik’s SVP of Strategy and Communications contends that Paypal is engaging in “actions to deplatform conservative voices”.
Epik and its’ CEO Rob Monster have been involved in a number of controversies in the past few years, including the hosting of far right-wing and extremist content.
Epik also currently offers .ca domain names, but is not listed on CIRA’s list of approved registrars. The facilitation of .ca registrations is likely through a reseller relationship with an existing CIRA-accredited registrar.
