In a CDRP decision published last week, international audit firm, KPMG was successful in their complaint over the domain name kpmg-lawyers.ca.

This is a particularly interesting case, as the registrant falsly used the name of an actual KPMG employee to register the domain name.

The individual sent a followup email from an address using the disputed domain after first impersonating the employee in a phone call with an existing client, in an attempt to scam them for $500,000 USD.

Organizations of any size should note this latest case and ensure that they have the proper safeguards in place should they become the target of a scammer using the same technique.
